Event Review | Non-linear Sprouts - A Staged Reading of the Trilogy
On April 18th, SIXI witnessed a staged reading performance titled Non-linear Sprouts at our latest group exhibition hall.
During the session, participants were invited to move freely, follow their instincts, and improvise in rhythm merely with the facilitator, Sun Chi. Starting with tentative physical warm-ups, the group gradually opened through the improvisation "I Am a Tree," growing more immersed and responsive to their bodily intuition. They embodied vivid characters, letting intense emotions flow freely through their expressions and voices.
Adapted from ancient Greek tragedies, this trilogy is set in a future world where algorithms govern society, posing the question: what conflicts will arise between humanity, programming, and the self?
Prometheus · One, Oedipus · X, and Antigone · ? portray, respectively, a creator controlled by algorithms, a robot rejecting fate's answers, and a writer rebelling against AI. Together in the gallery space, participants used their bodies, voices, and spontaneous reactions to step into the minds of rebellious characters, becoming "seeds out of line". They then exploring weighty themes of free will, control over destiny, and the ethics of artificial intelligence.
The exhibition's core idea lives not only in the artworks but also in every individual who dares to choose their own path.
