On January 17th, the art therapy instructor Jiaoyan invited participants to have an intimate soul dialogue with themselves. OH Cards, seashells, and a variety of collage materials served as gentle messengers for this conversation, revealing those ineffable yet deeply real emotional traces.
Whether the cards chosen that were influenced by the space’s vibe or the seashells picked for their colors and shapes, all the therapy methods subtly revealed the true state of attendees’ inner world. As they dug deeper into self-understanding, everyone began building their own "safe island". For instance, "stars" and "moons" clipped randomly from magazines represented the unspoken yet constant companions, while field ridges, balloons, and sword-shaped seashells became the peaceful, joyful "happy place" we all crave.
Finishing the island is far from the end—people, events, and things around us are always changing. The only thing standing firm at the center of the island is you. Guided by the instructor, participants drew insights from the metaphors in their "islands," who tended to become more aware of their interpersonal boundaries and right to choose.
