Event Review
On October 12th, Ai Lin, a national third-level psychological counselor, used the Gestalt system constellation method at Sixi Museum to help participants unravel their inner dilemmas. Just like the works of Christian Quin Newell exhibited in The Light Burns the Reality, this event started a journey of exploring and reshaping the inner narrative per se.
When the word "hero" come out, which character spring to your mind first?
It could be a someone from movies, TV shows, or even trending topics. But it could also be yourself—someone who lives with trauma and mends their wounds as they go through life. To help everyone focus more on inner exploration, before the workshop started, Instructor Ai Lin guided participants to meditate and relax in a safe space, helping them connect with their inner selves.
Later, participants volunteered to share their inner dilemmas—conflicts between their social roles and their "authentic selves." This common inner experience became the core theme of the group’s role-play. Different participants took on roles including: "the self I see in my mind," "the self I think I show to others," "the self I think others see me as," as well as the traits the sharer trusts and distrusts.
All role-players reacted on instinct based on their roles. From a "circle-breaking" perspective, they "engaged" with the sharer’s dilemmas. The real dilemma isn’t about "unsafe" external factors, but about one’s inner attitude toward "anxiety." In fact, "anxiety" might even be a positive reminder for oneself. What’s more, since every action the role-players took carried a part of their own inner world, they also found answers to their own similar dilemmas.
