Composed(2022-2023) references a found image of a man in prison, whose body language and stance were of particular interest to Simmons in his investigation of masculinity, specifically contexts in which the appearance of authority or strength is interlinked with survival. Originally graphite on canvas, Simmons later added a layer of beeswax, its matte cloudiness shielding the figure in a layer of obscurity.
