Kang Haoxian Chinese, b. 1989

Kang Haoxian, born in 1989 and now works and lives in Beijing, who grew up in Yantai, a place famous of Taoism. Which caused him to be full of curiosity about the immortal culture and also guide him to have an inexplicable interest in the "future world" and "mysticism". In addition, it also continuously inspired him as it is the main "visual text" of his paintings. In 2017, his first solo exhibition "The Golden Prophecy" represented his concern about the mysterious “future world” by countless predictions generated from his imaginations. In 2018, in his second solo exhibition "The Journey of Fools", 78 paintings based on the symbolism of Tarot cards in the exhibition were just out of his interest in "Mystery". The latest solo exhibition "No Beverly in Shunyi" held in 2020 focuses more on the existing circumstances. He proposed a world under that status of the gap between memory and the reality. The younger generations are indulgent or sentimental in their daily life or parties. The only rule in this world is to follow instinct, and the scene is full of desire and decadence.

Kang Haoxian's "Shunyi has no Beverly" series is regarded as the narrative Dada of the new era. These are either elegant or vulgar scenes related to parties. It will confess the chaos to the audience directly. We can see t the naked woman collapsed on the bed, showing exhaustion and sleepiness after the party in Good Night, Shirley (2020); we can't help thinking of why she was sad when we saw a beautiful aristocrat with a sunny complexion and fashionable dress wiping her tears with dollars in the fence when we look at You won't Understand My Sadness (2020).
