Beau Gabriel was born in New York, USA in 1992 and currently works and lives in London, UK.
In 2014, after studying literature and classical music, Gabriel traveled to Paris to work as a
paralegal, where he began to study painting and became obsessed with Renaissance art. He reinterprets classical idioms in the depiction of his own life and world, in which the gestures and rhythms of history resonate with his intimate contemporary observations. He crafts visions that are both familiar and fantastical, mysterious and whimsical.
Gabriel draws inspiration from the mural and niche painting styles of the Renaissance period, capturing subtle emotions of awkwardness or obscurity in social activities by depicting friends and characters around him in real life, presenting a contemporary interpretation of life that seems distant but close.
